Daily Trip to - Günü birlik "Almada"

One Saturday I left the house completely without plans, took the train and went to the centre. After going to the ferry pier from there, I asked the ticket office if the cart I had was valid here. Since my card was monthly, I could use everything in Lisbon, bus, metro, train, ship, the monthly price for now was 40 euros. The attendant asked me where I were going, I told him it was completely spontaneous and he told me to take the ferry to  "Cacilhas". The ferry is like our Istanbul island catamarans, 2 storeys. I immediately went inside with emotions and sat on the top floor. Of course, there was no Istanbul sea pleasure, but it was beautiful. 

Almada is a city on the south bank of the Tagus River in Portugal, on the opposite side of the river from Lisbon, and it is also a municipality. The two cities are connected by the "25 de Abril" bridge, which is very similar in design to the Golden gate bridge in San Francisco.

Following the bridge and the river, in 10 minutes I was across to the "Almada" side, i.e. to the south of Lisbon. This was the first time I had been to this side in such a long time. First of all, I went to a cafe quite spontaneously, sat down and drank my galao. In the meantime, while I was trying to draw a road map on Google map, I saw that there was a tourist office nearby. Well, my favourite thing is to collect a map and talk to a guide.

Before going to the tourist office, I went to the gate of the sailing ship named "Frigate D. Fernando II and Glória", seeing its appearance from afar, and examined its story a little. I read that it was the last warship of Portugal, which  sailed first in 1843. In 1865, it became the training ship of the navy's reserve Artillery School and continued this duty until 1940. I did not visit the museum inside today, I observe it a little from the outside, it looked really splendid. There was a submarine next to it, which is currently closed to visitors, it was under restoration. I couldn't see much about the "NRP Barracuda Submarine", after more than 40 years of service for Portuguese marines, it was decided to restore it instead of leaving it to rot. The tourist office said it would be inaugurated this year.

When my friend from Canada came here last weeks, he told me that he was going to a restaurant on this side but he didn't go, and when I passed by that restaurant, I sent him a voice recording and told him how quiet and beautiful the restaurant he was looking at was on a beautiful street 😊 The name of the restaurant is "Cova Funda" for those who are interested, its reputation has gone to Canada 😊

I finally arrived at the tourist office at around 15:00, was delayed  because taking photos and swaying. First he condemned me for living here for 1.5 years and not coming here before,I can not agree more. Then he started to show me the map...

After an effective tour guide lecture, I set off to go to "Jardim do Castelo". Lisbon is famous for its slopes, Almada was worse. The person in charge motivated me by saying "you are young, you will make it" but in vain. I swear I rested halfway up. Finally I reached the castle garden and the view was really marvellous!  I rested for a while with a panoramic view of the 25 de Abril bridge, Cristo Rei and Lisbon. I called my family from that view, it was a perfect viewing point!

I was going to skip the museums today. I hit up the road to see "Casa da Cerca". I wandered a bit inside this art centre, there was a legendary panoramic view outside again. I had a coffee and a "queijada" here.

There was a Naval museum on the way back, so I passed it for today and continued on my route aiming for a view. I went to the panoramic lift. There were Rio gardens below. If you have seen Portuguese having a picnic on social media, they might be having a picnic here. The secret is that they do their shopping at the market in the centre of Lisbon just before crossing to Almada and come here. You can spend a whole day with your wine, fruit and ready meals and then witness a magnificent sunset.

Then, before returning to the harbour again, you go down the stairs next to the lift, on the way there is the famous touristic Ponto Final. It is a tourist trap and the view is of course magnificent. But it must be the same place where you have a picnic for cheaper!

The way back is completely by the ocean and there are graffiti covered walls. Old ramshackle and somewhat dangerous looking buildings. There were antique shops in some of them, a really interesting choice of location.

To get back to Cais do sodre, I took the 17:45 ferry from TTSL company and reached the centre. Afterwards, I arrived home by train and looked at my photos, there are some nice pieces, I wanted to share them with you 😊

I think it's a good day plan to give yourself a day off to explore a new area in your new (or old) city. I'm glad I visited, I was tired but it was a good distraction.

Bir Cumartesi tamamen plansız evden çıkıp trene bindim ve merkeze gittim. Oradan vapur iskelesine gittikten sonra gişeye elimdeki akbilin buradakiler için de geçerli olup olmadığını sordum. Kartım aylık olduğu içim Lizbondaki otobüs, metro, tren gemi herşeyi kullanabiliyordum, şuan için aylık fiyatı 40 euro. Görevli, nereye gideceğimi sordu, tamamen spontane olduğunu söyledim. Bana “Cacilhas” feribotunu almamı söyledi. Feribot bizim ada katamaranları gibi, 2 katlı. Hemen özlemle geçtim içeri üst kata çıktım oturdum. Tabi bir İstanbul deniz keyfisi yoktu ama olsundu. 

Almada, Portekiz'de Tagus Nehri'nin güney kıyısında, nehrin Lizbon'un karşı yakasında yer alan bir şehir ve aynı zamanda bir belediye aslında. İki Şehri  “25 de Abril“  Köprüsü ile birbirine bağlıdır ve bu köprünün de San Fransisco’da yer alan Golden gate köprüsüyle dizaynları çok benzer.

Köprüyü ve nehri izleyerek 10 dakikada karşıya “Almada” tarafına yani Lizbon’un güneyine inmiş oldum. Bu kadar zamandır ilk defa geldim bu tarafa. Önce baya spontane bir şekilde gittim bir kafeye oturdum, galaomu içtim. O arada Google map üzerinden bir yol haritası çizmeye çalışırken hemen yakında turist ofisi olduğunu gördüm. En sevdiğim şey harita toplamak ve bir rehber ile konuşmak.

Turist ofisine gitmeden evvel “Frigate D. Fernando II and Glória”  adlı yelkenli gemisinin uzaktan endamını görerek kapısına gittim, biraz hikayesini inceledim. 1843’te yelkenleri açan Portekizin son savaş gemisi olduğunu okudum. 1865 yılında donanmanın yedek Topçu Okulu eğitim gemisi olmuş ve bu görevini 1940 yılına kadar sürdürmüş. Bugünlük içindeki müzeyi gezmedim, biraz dışardan inceledim, gerçekten ihtişamlı görünüyordu. Yanında da şuan ziyarete kapalı olan bir denizaltı duruyordu, restore edilme aşamasındaymış. “NRP Barracuda Submarine “ e dair pek bişey görüntüleyemedim, 40 yıldan fazla bir süre Portekiz marinleri için hizmet gördükten sonra çürümeye bırakmayıp restore etme kararı alınmış. Turist ofisindeki bu sene açılışı yapılacağını söyledi.

İhtişamlı deniz araçlarını görmemiz üzerine turist ofisine doğru yol aldım. Geçen haftalarda Kanada’dan arkadaşım geldiğinde bana bu taraftaki bir restorana gideceğini söyleyip gitmemişti, gittim o restoranın önünden geçerken de kendisine ses kaydı atıp baktığı restoranın ne kadar sakin, güzel bir caddede  olduğunu söyledim 😊 Restoranın adı ilgilenenler için “Cova Funda”, Kanadaya kadar itibarı gitmiş. 😊

Fotoğraf çekerek ve sallanarak yürüdüğüm için sonunda vardım turist ofisine, saat 15:00 gibi. Önce burada 1.5 senedir yaşayıp buraya daha önce gelmediğim için beni kınadı, çok haklı. Sonra başladı haritadan göstermeye…

Buildings I like

Etkili bir turist rehberi dinletisinden sonra “Jardim do Castelo” tarafına gitmek için yola koyuldum. Lizbon yokuşları meşhur, Almada daha fenaydı. Görevli kişi “sen gençsin çıkarsın” diye motive etti ancak nafile. Yarı yolda dinlenerek çıktım vallahi. Sonunda Kalenin bahçesine varmıştım. Manzara gerçekten müthişti!  25 de Abril köprüsünü, Cristo Rei’yi ve Lizbon’u panoramik bir şekilde izleyerek bir süre dinlendim. Ailemi aradım o manzaradan, tam bir izleme noktası!

Müzeleri bugün es geçecektim. “Casa da Cerca”’yı görmek için yola koyuldum. Bu sanat merkezinin içinde dolaştım biraz, dışarıda yine efsane bir panoramik manzara vardı. Burada bir kahve içip “queijada” yedim.

Rota üzerinde Denizcilik müzesi vardı dönüşte, orayı da bugünlük geçip manzara hedefli rotama devam ettim. Panoramik asansörün oraya gittim. Aşağısında Rio bahçeleri vardı. Sosyal medyada piknik yapan Portekizli gördüyseniz burada piknik yapıyor olabilirler. Bu işin sırrı, Almada’ya geçmeden hemen önce Lizbon merkezinde bulunan marketten alışverişlerini yapıp buraya gelmeleri. Şarabınızı meyvenizi hazır yemeklerinizi alıp koca bir gün geçirip arkasından muhteşem bir gün batımına şahit olabilirsiniz.

Sonra tekrar limana dönmeden evvel, asansörün yanındaki merdivenlerden iniyorsunuz, yolda meşhur turistik Ponto Final yer alıyor. Tam bir turist kapanı, manzarası ise tabi ki muhteşem. Ama daha ucuza piknik yaptığınız yerle aynı olsa gerek !

Dönüş yolu tamamen okyanus kenarı ve grafiti kaplı duvarlar mevcut. Eskimiş köhne ve biraz da tehlikeli görünen binalar. Bazılarının içinde antikacılar mevcuttu, gerçekten ilginç bir konum seçimi bence.

Cais do sodre’ye geri dönmek için TTSL firmasının vapur saatlerinden 17:45’e bindikten sonra merkeze ulaştım. Akabinde trenle eve gelerek fotoğraflarıma baktım, güzel birkaç parça mevcut, sizinle paylaşmak istedim 😊

Kendinize yeni taşındığınız (eski de olur) şehirde yeni bir bölgeyi keşfetmek için izin verebileceğiniz güzel bir gün planı bence. İyi ki gelmişim, yoruldum ama güzel kafa dağıtmaca oldu.
